- -The word “Pizza” has been used for the first time in latin manuscripts from 997 AD.
- -The oldest “modern” Pizza is the Pizza Marinara.
- -The simplest and most common Pizza, the Pizza Margherita, was made in 1887 in Naples, by a cook named Raffaele Esposito, in honor to the Italian Queen Margherita di Savoia., with the colours of the Italian flag: basil for green, mozzarella for white and tomato for red. He was also the first one to use cheese on Pizza.
- -Pizza became international thanks to the many Italian emigrants that in the late years of the XIX century and during the Second World War, moved to foreign countries.
